A Disneyland trip is a classic family getaway. The best hotels around Anaheim pair family-friendly rooms, easy access to the parks and Downtown Disney, and just enough themed charm to keep kids excited. I’ve stayed at most of the properties below and found each one a reliable choice for families.
On-site versus nearby
There are two basic options: Disney-owned resorts that put you inside Disney property, or nearby hotels that are typically a short walk or ride from the gates. Beginning January 5, 2026, Disney-owned hotel benefits will change: instead of 30 minutes of early park entry, guests will receive one Lightning Lane skip-the-line pass for a Lightning Lane Multi-Pass–eligible attraction during their stay. Most hotels listed are roughly a 10– to 15–minute walk to the parks, so you can pick based on preference for convenience, price, or room size.
Disneyland Hotel
The classic on-site choice, the Disneyland Hotel is pricier than many off-property options but delivers Disney-level service, close access to both parks and Downtown Disney, and themed dining and nightlife like Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. Standard rooms sleep up to five; suites and villas accommodate larger groups. Great for families who want full immersion and convenience.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
Known for Craftsman-style design and top-notch service, the Grand Californian offers direct access to Disney California Adventure, multiple restaurants, a full-service spa, and exclusive viewing areas for nightly entertainment. It’s ideal for special occasions or a splurge stay.
The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel
Part of Disney Vacation Club but bookable without DVC ownership, these villas range from themed studios to three-bedroom grand villas sleeping up to 12. New pool and splash-pad areas, including a Steamboat Willie–themed play zone, make it a strong option for families wanting room and resort amenities.
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
These villas suit larger families who want kitchens and extra space. Units typically fit five to 12 guests, letting you mix quick breakfasts at the villa with resort dining like the Craftsman Bar or Napa Rose. The easy park access and Craftsman ambiance are big pluses.
Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel
A Pixar-themed on-site hotel with character-inspired rooms and a rooftop pool area influenced by Finding Nemo. The pool includes a splash pad and fun slides, and occasional lobby character appearances delight younger kids.
The Westin Anaheim Resort
About a 15–20 minute walk from the parks, the Westin is a higher-end option with comfortable rooms, good on-site dining, pool space, and views of fireworks. It’s also convenient for combining park days with pool downtime.
JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort
A luxury choice that appeals to families and business travelers alike. Spacious rooms, attentive service, and multiple restaurants—plus a rooftop bar—make it a solid pick within walking distance of Disneyland and Downtown Disney.
Hilton Anaheim
Roughly a mile from the parks and next to the Anaheim Convention Center, the Hilton offers a wide range of room types and some “Disney View” rooms that glimpse the parks and fireworks. As a Good Neighbor hotel, it’s a reliable off-site alternative.
Anaheim Marriott
Also about a mile away, the Anaheim Marriott provides roomy accommodations, mountain and city views, and fun on-site dining options to fuel a park day. It’s a dependable choice for families open to a short walk or ride.
How to choose
If you want immersion and immediate park access, pick an on-site resort. If you need more space or better value, nearby hotels offer larger rooms and lower rates while still keeping you minutes from the magic. Whatever you choose, you’ll be steps from rides, parades, and characters that make Disneyland a memorable family destination.
