When my now-husband and I planned our wedding, we wanted Italy, a small guest list, and celebrations that lasted. After four days at a farmhouse in Tuscany, a handful of our closest friends joined us for what we called a “friends-moon” on the Amalfi Coast. We needed one villa that could comfortably house nine people, offer shared spaces for hanging out, and deliver the quintessential Positano backdrop. Villa Petite Syrene, booked through Elite Villas, checked every box.
We arrived after a long travel day and were met by Valerio, the house manager, who led us through Positano’s winding streets to the villa tucked just off the main drag. The house sits almost within sight of Le Sirenuse hotel; from the villa’s yellow-and-blue tiled terrace you can see the hotel’s private balconies below. The terrace view stopped us in our tracks—the dome of Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta looked close enough to touch, colorful cliffside buildings rose out of the sea, and the black sand beach and bustling port opened to the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea.
Inside, the villa felt like a cozy, sunlit retreat. Plush white couches invited lounging with a glass of wine, and the kitchen shelves were lined with hand-painted local ceramics—we spent an afternoon admiring and using the colorful espresso cups. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, each with a private bath, and a pull-out couch that extends the sleeping capacity so the villa can accommodate up to ten guests. My husband and I took the room with a private balcony; our friends spread across the other rooms, and two of those share an adjoining terrace.
Positano is famously steep, and our first dinner reservation—da Gabrisa—required a fifteen-minute climb to near the top of the cliff. The food and views made the effort worthwhile, and we only had to repeat that climb one more time for a private last-night dinner at Posides. Most beach-level bars, restaurants, and shops were easily reachable from the villa, making daytime strolls and sunset cocktails effortless.
One of the best parts of staying with Elite Villas was the concierge service. Coordinating a friends-moon while handling wedding logistics would have overwhelmed us without their help. They arranged transport to and from Naples, hired a courier to carry our bags up the stairs, and planned a mix of relaxed and active days. When rain threatened our planned boat excursion, they rearranged the schedule so we enjoyed a sunny day on the water. They also hired a chef for a private cooking class on our terrace, booked a private car tour so my husband and I could explore nearby towns, and secured a table at Music on the Rocks.
On our final evening we sat on those white couches with wine, laughing and replaying the week’s highlights. The same question kept popping up—“When are we going back?”—and it still lives in our group chat.
Other villas in Positano we considered: Villa Punta Re, a compact option for up to six people that sits close to the town’s tourist spots; and Villa Tre Archi, higher on the hill for a quieter experience without sacrificing the views. Both are lovely depending on your group size and how much you want to be in the center of the action.
