Privacy Policy
How Vinh Hung Travel collects, uses and protects information when you read the site, subscribe to our newsletter or get in touch with us.
This policy explains what information Vinh Hung Travel collects when you visit vinhhungtravel.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have about it. It covers this website only, and not any third-party site we link to -- including the hotel, airline and booking sites our articles point to.

Who we are
Vinh Hung Travel is an independent travel publication covering destinations, hotels and stays, food and drink, flights and transport, gear and packing, and travel guides. For anything to do with this policy, write to [email protected].
Information you give us
- Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe, we store the email address you enter and the date you subscribed.
- Messages. If you email us or use a contact form, we keep your message and your address so that we can reply.
- Tips, pitches and corrections. If you send us a destination tip, an article pitch or a correction, we keep what you send and the details you include with it.
We are a publication, not a travel agency. We do not take bookings, and we never ask for passport numbers, payment card details or other booking information.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers record standard request information whenever a page is loaded. That includes your IP address, your browser and operating system, your device type, the page that referred you, the pages you view, and the date and time of each request.
We use this to keep the site running, to understand which guides are read, and to detect abuse such as scraping or attempted intrusion. We do not use it to try to identify you personally.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use three kinds:
- Essential cookies that make the site work -- remembering your display preferences and keeping your session secure.
- Analytics cookies that tell us, in aggregate, which pages are read and how readers arrive.
- Advertising and affiliate cookies set by our partners, which record that you reached a booking or retail site from one of our links.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working properly.
How we use information
- To publish and deliver the site, and to keep it secure and available.
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To reply to your messages.
- To understand which destinations and subjects readers find useful, so we can commission more of them.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Advertising and affiliate links
Some pages carry advertising, and many of our hotel, tour and gear recommendations contain affiliate links. If you book or buy after following one, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or what we say about it.
Advertising and affiliate partners may set their own cookies and may use them to show you advertisements based on your browsing. Their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, not by ours. Most advertising networks let you opt out of personalised advertising through their own settings pages.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site -- hosting, analytics, email delivery, security -- and only as far as they need it to do that work. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages you send us are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Server and analytics logs are kept for a limited retention period and are then deleted or aggregated.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent you have given. Readers in the European Union and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR, and readers in California have comparable rights under the CCPA and CPRA.
To exercise any of them, write to [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. Every newsletter also carries an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our readers and our service providers are spread across the world, and data may be processed on servers outside Vietnam. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information continues to be protected to the standard described in this policy.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, to protect the information we hold. No website can promise perfect security, but we take the responsibility seriously and act promptly if something goes wrong.
Links to other sites
Our guides link to booking platforms, hotels, airlines, restaurants and tour operators. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read the policy of any site you visit from here -- particularly before entering booking or payment details.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site.
